Prototyping in IoT – Creative Engineering

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a recent communication paradigm that envisions a near future. In this concept the objects of everyday usage will be equipped with smart units (microcontrollers, transceivers for digital communication), and they will have suitable protocols that will make them able to communicate between themselves, becoming an integral part of the Internet. An IoT is enabling easy access and interaction with a wide variety of devices such as: home appliances, surveillance cameras, monitoring sensors, actuators, displays, vehicles, and so on. An IoT will foster the development of a number of applications that make use of the potentially enormous amount and variety of data generated by such objects to provide new services to citizens, companies, and public administrations.

The one, who can identify real-world problems and recognize that multiple solutions may be needed, is considered as an creative engineer. Such perspective comes from creativity, which allows engineers to improvise and confront new situations. An engineer with creative characteristics can adapt to change and successfully take on new problems without a set formula, especially in the prototype form.

During this summer school you will learn more about this concept, about solutions for Smart agriculture, Smart Home and Smart City. Successful case studies from the market will be presented. During second part of the school all students will work practically with development kits.
