About
Lenka Habětínová
I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes, econ(omics) is all around me...
In this course we will examine the field of economics from a variety of perspectives:
- we will talk about the classical, perfectly rational actors (and what happens when *real* humans with all their flaws join in for some fun),
- about what do companies that sell aeroplanes or detergent have in common,
- about international trade and whether there is something economists can learn from physicists,
- about currency wars and the deep question one important politician recently worried about: is it good when the dollar is strong or when it is weak?
- and if there is anything economics can tell us about education, diets, charitable giving or even marriage (spoilers: yes!)
We will play games, draw charts, debate, and engage in an activity all economists love: wonder where did (all other) economists go wrong.
No prior knowledge of economics is required or expected; prior knowledge of basic algebra is welcome but not necessary for this course.
