About
Translational medicine (TM) is defined as an interdisciplinary branch of the biomedical field supported by three main pillars: "benchside, bedside and community" (European Society for Translational Medicine). The goal is to combine disciplines, resources, skills to promote improvements in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. From a computational point of view, the effort is becoming to design data science oriented paradigms to support clinicians in their daily decisional processes. In fact, while medicine defines itself as personalized, quantified (precision medicine) or in high definition, clinicians must be prepared to face a world in which data, processes and decisions are rapidly becoming more and more structured, and complex. In this context, the main objective of the school is to provide clinicians, and computer scientists with theory, laboratories and case studies to extend and deepen the knowledge of the learning and inferences tools aiming to cope the complexity of TM's current challenges.
